During the Winter of 2003,
EPIC planted mangroves at Grand Etang in French St. Martin. Seventy-five
Red Mangrove seedlings were transplanted from Etang Poisson in east St.
Martin to Grand Etang. The mangrove shoots were planted along the north side
of the pond in a small, shallow cove. Biologists noticed shorebird species
already foraging amongst the new plants following our restoration efforts.
