EPIC's Mission

Board of Directors

The primary role of this geographically and professionally diverse board is to direct the structural and financial development of the organization.

Natalia Collier

Co-Founder of EPIC. Currently the President of EPIC as well as the Director of EPIC's Keystone Cays: Conservation of Key Marine Bird Habitats Program. Natalia has also been a staff member of PRBO Conservation Science for six years specializing in colonial seabird breeding ecology as well as seabird roosting ecology. She has conducted research in South America, the United States, and the Caribbean. Member of the Caribbean Conservation Association (CCA) and the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB).

 

Adam Brown

Co-Founder of EPIC. Currently the Vice-President of EPIC as well as the Director of EPIC's What about Wetlands? Conservation of Wetlands and Coastal Habitats Program as well as the Songbirds as Environmental Indicators Program. Has been a staff member of PRBO Conservation Science for six years, specializing in seabird breeding and foraging ecology and terrestrial bird migration ecology. Member of the Caribbean Conservation Association (CCA), the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB), the Wilson Ornithological Society, the Association of Field Ornithologists (AFO), and the American Birding Association (ABA).

 

Paul Sikkel, PhD

A Research Assistant Professor, Department of Biology. Centre College. Currently assessing the health of reef fish populations in the Caribbean. Past affiliations include: Program Director, Study abroad program in Puerto Rico, Kentucky Institute for International Studies; Visiting Scholar University of Technology, Sydney, Australia; Postdoctoral Fellow, Bellairs Research Institute of McGill University, Barbados; Visiting Assistant Professor, Division of Science and Mathematics and Marine Science Program, University of the Virgin Islands; Visiting Lecturer of Marine Biology, University of Hawaii at Hilo; Postdoctoral Fellow, Friday Harbor Laboratories, University of Washington.

 

Michelle Hester:

Ecologist and president of a non-profit ecology organization, Oikonos Ecosystem Knowledge, and Research Associate with the California Academy of Sciences. Received her M.S. in Marine Science from the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories investigating seabird island colonization and foraging ecology. She has also been a staff biologist with PRBO Conservation Science for 10 years, spending much of this time managing the Farallon Islands research station, and has conducted research in many ecosystems, from the Caribbean, to South Africa, to Antarctica. Member of the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB), Society for Conservation Biology, and Pacific Seabird Group.

 

Andrew Brown:

A financial analyst with G.E. Capital in New York. Andrew has also been involved with Peace Corps and while attaining his MBA at Kellogg University, developed Kellogg Corps, a similar partnership program between Kellogg University and multiple nations in Central America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

 

Susan Bain

Past Executive Director of the Caribbean Conservation Association (CCA). Currently working as a professional consultant in Barbados working with such agencies as the USAID Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance as well as the Adaptation to Climate Change in the Caribbean [ACCC] Project
RIPU Barbados.

 

Caroline Collier:

Professional artist and educator. Caroline is currently developing EPIC's corporate sponsorship program.

The role of this independent board of experts is to provide guidance and support to the organization within their areas of expertise.

Floyd E. Hayes, PhD: Associate Professor of Biology, Pacific Union College.

Douglas Branch McNair: Ornithologist focusing on Caribbean birds.

Martin Frost: Certified Public Accountant and Caribbean bird expert, Barbados.

Mandy Walsh-McGehee: President of Island Conservation Effort, Gainesville Florida and Saba, Netherlands Antilles
